The fallout of Mikhail Grabovski biting the arm of Max Pacioretty has been pretty ugly. Luckily, EOTP was mostly spared this today. We had a couple gloating Maple Leafs fans drop by, but that’s to be expected.
Pension Plan Puppets posted a bunch of screen shots of Canadiens fans embarrassing themselves on twitter, slinging homophobic epithets at Grabovski and other Leafs.
It’s pretty easy to make fun of the dumbest corners of a fanbase. We all have our knuckle draggers. However honestly, we’ve all got to be better than that.
Pacioretty shouldn’t have grabbed Grabovski the way he did. The way he grabbed him did not give Grabovski an excuse to bite him like a 4 year old. Biting has no place in sports, these are grown adults.
But, what happens on a sheet of ice between two teams of grown men is no excuse to call someone a “faggot”, or wish for a team of players to die in a plane crash. Remember how that actually happened just last year?
Fanbases often use the word “class” like it’s a weapon. Like not being classy is something very serious. If it is, then you should remember that before you sit down and type out a message that all the world can see.
This isn’t the first time the Habs have been blown out, and it won’t be the last time. Act like you’ve been there before.
In the end, Grabovski will be found guilty of biting Pacioretty by the league and get a fine or a short suspension, or he’ll get away with it because you can’t see teeth hit wrist in the video, and not much changes either way.
This is small time crap, and letting it get to you enough that you make yourself look like a jackass is just not cool.
