Michael McCarron makes a big debut with the London Knights

Whenever the Montreal Canadiens make a first round pick that isn’t a sure thing like Alex Galchenyuk, fans hold their collective breath as the season begins and hope that the young player impresses us all. This goes double for Michael McCarron, whose offensive ability is in serious question after failing to dominate in the USHL and the US National development program at 17.

McCarron took the first step in allowing everyone to release that breath with a huge game in his OHL debut for the London Knights. One game is just one game, but it’s always nice to see a prospect with McCarron’s physical abilities take the bull by the horns.

After dropping the gloves for the first time to a standing ovation, the Knights broke the 1-1 tie against Sarnia and went on to route the Sting 5-1. McCarron scored the the goal to put the team up 4-1 and put the game out of reach.

McCarron received praise after the game for standing up for his teammates and flashing his skill. In the end, the Knights outshot the Sting 43-23, a drubbing.

Hopefully McCarron can keep it up and keep impressing.
