According to multiple media sources, Max Pacioretty has healed enough from his wrist injury that the team is comfortable with him coming back into the lineup for tomorrow’s game against the Calgary Flames.
Pacioretty was injured by on a run-of-the-mill hit by Colton Orr early in the first game of the season, jamming his left wrist against the boards.
David Desharnais and Danny Briere should benefit greatly by the dominant possession winger coming back into the lineup, as their line was the only one that struggled against the Flyers. Pacioretty has been the Canadiens‘ best possession driving forward for three seasons now, though Lars Eller may be giving him a bit of a challenge this year.
In other news, Brian Gionta has joined the team in Calgary today after remaining in Montreal while the team’s charter left due to undisclosed family reasons. Fans were obviously worried when the news originally broke that Gionta didn’t make the trip, but those worries should be alleviated now.
Michel Therrien has also indicated that Carey Price will get the start in Calgary, which means that Peter Budaj will see his first action of the season against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.
Nathan Beaulieu was also called up to the big club again, as he gets bounced around on a day-to-day basis to save cap space.
