Louis Leblanc called up by the Canadiens

In the most recent bit of roster news, the Habs have called up 2009 1st round pick Louis Leblanc.

Hopefully Leblanc will receive more than a minute and forty-five seconds of ice time in his first game, which is how much time was allotted to Nattinen’s NHL debut.

Leblanc leads the Hamilton Bulldogs in goals, and is second to veteran captain Martin St.Pierre in points. He had hoped to notch a place on the roster during training camp, but was a surprisingly early cut.

It’s uncertain where Leblanc slots into the lineup, but at least Bergevin is finally giving the kid a chance. He’s done everything management has asked of him during his season in the AHL. Montreal definitely needs help offensively and Leblanc will look to fill a big void left by Alex Galchenyuk.

One thing is for sure, Aleksandra Wozniak will be happy with the call-up.

Press release:

On Monday afternoon, the Canadiens recalled forward Louis Leblanc from the Hamilton Bulldogs. He will be at practice on Tuesday morning in Brossard.

Leblanc took part in five games with the Canadiens earlier this season, registering a plus-2 differential and amassing two penalty minutes. In 36 games with the Bulldogs thus far this year, the 22-year-old centerman has scored nine goals and posted 20 points in addition to amassing a plus-2 differential.
