Montreal Canadiens defenceman Logan Mailloux has reportedly received the green light to play in the NHL and AHL this coming season, according to TVA Sports’ Renaud Lavoie.

Mailloux had been ruled ineligible and the Canadiens had no reason to request his reinstatement as he was playing in the Ontario Hockey League for the London Knights. Neither the NHL nor the Canadiens have officially confirmed this news at this time.

At the team’s development camp, the Canadiens did not allow Mailloux to speak to the media because the decision on his reinstatement was still pending at that time. This will allow Mailloux to take part in the team’s rookie camp and training camp with no issues. He was with the team in camp last year but was rehabbing from an injury that cut his season short.

He is set to make his professional debut this season after signing his entry-level contract last year.

The NHL re-instating Mailloux means that he will also be eligible to play in the AHL if assigned there.
