Les Canadiennes de Montreal Player Profile: Emilie Bocchia

Forward Emilie Bocchia is entering her third season with Les Canadiennes de Montreal. Prior to joining the team, she spent four years playing for Concordia University: from 2009-10 to 2012-13. In those four years, Bocchia scored 45 points in 80 games. She was also named Concordia's Rookie of the Year in 2010 and the team's Most Valuable Player in 2013. On a Stingers club that struggled (Concordia won just 16 games during her four-year career), Bocchia was one of the bright spots.

As a Stinger, she was coached by current Canadiennes teammate Caroline Ouelette and assistant coach Lisa-Marie Breton-Lebreux. In an interview with Women's Hockey Life, Bocchia talked about becoming teammates with her coaches.

It is great! Having learnt from them and now playing with them is so much fun. I get to see both sides of them as a coach and as a teammate. It is interesting how the hockey world works. We somehow all end up meeting again at one point. They are definitely inspirations to me and I still look up to them now.

Bocchia looks to be starting the season on the third line with Jordanna Peroff and one of either Katia Clement-Heydra or Leslie Oles. Entering her third year in the CWHL, Bocchia should be taking a step forward in her development.

Les Canadiennes added a lot of depth via the draft, and players like Bocchia should be playing a larger role this season. In that Women's Hockey Life interview, she cites her shootout winner last season as one of her best moments as a Canadienne. She'll likely have more opportunity to step up and play in big moments like that.

If Bocchia's twitter account is any indication, she is exited for the season to start.

Bocchia and her Les Canadiennes teammates host the Brampton Thunder today at 5:30 PM EDT in their first game of the season.
