The Rocket will be playing their first post-season game tonight versus the Utica Comets, but the Montreal Canadiens' AHL affiliate has been in playoff mode for weeks now, having to win eight of its final nine games to grab the fifth and final spot in the North Division.
The first step is a best-of-three play-in series with the fourth-place Utica Comets that will determine the fourth seed in the division and set up a series with the top-seeded Toronto Marlies. The Rocket get a big advantage out of the gate with their one home game up first before heading to Utica, playing in front of a Place Bell crowd that has been loud and supportive all through the season, and now prepared to ratchet things up a notch.
Laval will be playing the game without Mitchell Stephens, who was injured right at the end of the final game of the regular season. He had come up with many clutch goals in the second half of the season, and his presence will be missed. However, there are plenty of players who can step up in the big moments, including Rafaël Harvey-Pinard who will be a fun one to watch in this d series.
