Game 22: Laval Rocket vs. Toronto Marlies
Start time: 7:00 PM EST / 4:00 PM PST
In Canada: RDS (French)
Radio: TSN690 (English)
Streaming: AHL.tv on FloHockey, RDS
The Laval Rocket are no longer the top team in the AHL having lost five of their past seven games, but they do still cling to the top seed in the North Division. That title is on points alone; the Toronto Marlies have a higher points percentage with four fewer games played, so this weekend’s set with the rival club is a chance for Laval to gain a cushion when those games in hand get made up.
Laval made a trade today to address some defensive issues they’ve developed in the past couple of weeks. Jacob Perreault did not discover the form he showed in the OHL that made him a first-round pick in 2020, and was shipped to the Edmonton Oilers organization for defenceman Noel Hoefenmayer.
Owen Beck was the star of the show last game as the Rocket got the win versus the Syracuse Crunch. The top prospects are generally playing well this season, which is what you like to see, and they will need them to be at their best again this weekend.
