Despite outplaying the Rochester Americans in the early part of last night’s game, the Laval Rocket fell into a two-goal hole in the second period. That inspired the home team to apply that final bit of finish to their plays as they scored the next four goals, including three in a span of 2:25 in the middle of the third period. In the end they came away with a 4-3 regulation win, and leapt ahead of the Americans to occupy the top spot in the AHL standings.
The Rocket can maintain that position with a point today, or they can really consolidate yesterday’s victory with another regulation win and earn a three-point edge over their division rival while holding a game in hand. Expect more quality work from Florian Xhekaj, Sean Farrell, Alex Barré-Boulet, and the rest of the Rocket players as they aim for a fifth victory in a row.
