Game 16: Laval Rocket vs. Belleville Senators

Start time: 7:00 PM EST / 4:00 PM PST
In Canada: RDS (French)
Radio: TSN690 (English)
Streaming: AHL.tv on FloHockey, RDS

The Rocket didn’t look like their usual selves on Wednesday night versus the Rochester Americans, getting outchanced in each period and suffering just their third defeat of the season. However, their last two losses inspired an eight-game winning streak and then a three-game run, so they’ve been able to make quick corrections and get back to their game.

A bit of added motivation is a good thing to bring into a contest with the Belleville Senators, because that is one of Laval’s toughest matchups each season. The two teams always play close, emotional games, and have already had two one-goal contests this season, splitting them with a win apiece though Laval does hold a 3-2 edge in points so far. They split the season series at 6-6 last year, and it looks like they might be on pace to do something similar in 2024-25.

Connor Hughes gets the start for the first game of a weekend back-to-back before Jakub Dobes tries to carry a tired team tomorrow night in Belleville. Hughes is off to an excellent start in his first year with the team, holding a .935 save percentage to rank sixth in the AHL. He could just be the difference in what’s sure to be another tight game between these rivals.
