As part of the Montreal Canadiens’ preparation for the first game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Carey Price and Brendan Gallagher will work their way into game shape in the Laval Rocket’s final match of the season.
The Canadiens have assigned Brendan Gallagher and Carey Price to the Rocket on LTI conditioning loans. They will dress for Laval’s final game of the season on Monday. Price is expected to play half the game. Both will be at the Rocket’s 10:00 a.m. practice https://t.co/M8XxDFkYGL— Canadiens Montréal (@CanadiensMTL) May 16, 2021
Gallagher has missed the last two months of action with a broken thumb, while Price has been out since sustaining a concussion in a game versus the Edmonton Oilers on April 19.
#Habs Carey Price will play half the game for Laval tomorrow vs. the Marlies -- his first game action since April 19th when he suffered his concussion vs. Edmonton. Brendan Gallagher will play in a game for the first time since April 5th.— Priyanta Emrith (@HabsInHighHeels) May 16, 2021
The Rocket have been missing many of their top players due to injury down the final stretch of the season, and the lack of stars impacted their finishing ability, though not the dominant style Joël Boucnard has them playing. While these moves are designed around gettting some work from the NHL stars, it’s a good injection of morale for a minor-league group that has been playing well since the opening game of the season without a playoff run of their own to look forward to.
