The Montreal Canadiens are preparing for their Western Canadian road trip with two reinforcements to the taxi squad as they recalled Xavier Ouellet and Laurent Dauphin from the Laval Rocket.

The Canadiens travel to Vancouver on Sunday, and the Rocket play again on Monday. With the team on the road, the Canadiens are choosing to have built-in replacements. For the last little while, the taxi squad was mostly used for salary cap purposes.

Ouellet and Dauphin will now join Michael Frolik and Charlie Lindgren for the road trip. Ouellet, the Rocket captain, has one goal and one assist in eight games this season. Dauphin has two goals and one assist in seven games.

The Rocket had Guillaume Brisebois loaned to them from the Vancouver Canucks earlier this week, likely in anticipation of one of their defenceman being recalled to the team’s taxi squad.

Laval is on a road trip of their own, and their next home game will be March 14 when they host the Toronto Marlies.
