The Montreal Canadiens recalled goaltender Charlie Lindgren to the taxi squad from the Laval Rocket on Monday morning.

In a corresponding move, the team sent Michael McNiven back to the American Hockey League. Lindgren was sent to the Rocket to get some game action in as he had yet to play a game this season.

He played twice for the Rocket, going 1-1, including a win on Saturday afternoon. In his two games, he stopped 28 of 32 shots, for a 2.00 goals against average and .875 save percentage. He will now be the team’s third goaltender and return to practice with the NHL team. The Canadiens had a travel day on Sunday, but return to the ice Monday for practice.

McNiven has played one game in the AHL this season, winning it by making 25 of 26 saves. He is currently on a five-game AHL winning streak dating back to his last start of the 2018-19 season.

The Rocket don’t play again until March 8.
