On Saturday night, the Montreal Canadiens cut seven players from the training-camp roster, reducing the number remaining to 37 (several of whom are injured), getting closer the maximum of 23 who can be named for opening night.

B. Baddock
L. Dauphin
M. McNiven
J. Dea
Cédés à Laval:
J. Beaudin
T. Bisson
C. Schueneman
Several of the players need to pass through waivers to go to the AHL, and we will see their names on the wire at 2:00 PM EDT on Sunday. The most notable is Michael McNiven, who was competing for the backup job before Montreal claimed Samuel Montembeault on Saturday afternoon. He’s joined by Brandon Baddock, Laurent Dauphin, and Jean-Sébastien Dea as players who need waivers to be reassigned.
There are three players who don’t need waivers as well: Jean-Christophe Beaudin, Tobie Bisson, and key Rocket defenceman Corey Schueneman, who will start prepping for the AHL season and could potentially be a call-up at some point.
Those who remain with the club are looking forward to the next pre-season game, which will be on Tuesday night in Toronto, though we could see more cuts between now and then.
