The Montreal Canadiens returned to practice on Monday, and there appear to be a couple of changes ahead of Tuesday’s game against the San Jose Sharks.

Mike Hoffman and Sami Niku both took part in practice with a regular line, indicating they might be ready to enter the lineup sooner rather than later. This was only Hoffman’s second practice with the team, but he skated on a line with Adam Brooks and Brendan Gallagher. Jake Evans did not take part in Monday’s practice.

Niku skated next to Brett Kulak and Chris Wideman appeared to be the odd defender out. Niku has yet to play this season after suffering a concussion in his pre-season debut with the team.

Also of note, Mathieu Perreault skated at centre in place of Cédric Paquette on the fourth line. Paquette rotated in, but was not in the regular rotation.

Jake Allen did not participate in practice, either.

Update, 12:03 p.m. : According to Eric Engels, it is a therapy day for Jake Evans. Jake Allen will skate after practice with goaltending coach Eric Raymond.

Here are the full lines from Monday:
