The Montreal Canadiens have officially announced the loan of forward Jesse Ylönen to the Lahti Pelicans to start the 2020-21 season.

Ylönen is entering his first season on his entry level contract. He was loaned to the Laval Rocket last season but an injury followed by the end of the AHL season due to the COVID-19 pandemic saw him go back to Finland with no game action.

Like so many young players, the ability to play at home before making their way to North America is intriguing. The team says that Ylönen is fully expected to take part in both NHL and AHL training camps. No dates for the start of the 2020-21 season have been announced, but training camps will not start until late November at the absolute earliest, and likely will be much later than that.

This is the same path that the Canadiens have taken with Lukas Vejdemo, Hayden Verbeek, and Otto Leskinen.
