With Jonathan Drouin and Paul Byron nearing a return, it was only a matter of time until the Montreal Canadiens sent Ryan Poehling back to the Laval Rocket, and they made that move today.

The Canadiens have assigned forward Ryan Poehling to the AHL’s Laval Rocket.
Poehling missed games with the flu, and with Drouin as a game-time decision, and Paul Byron returning to practice this morning there wasn’t much place for Poehling to play.
He’ll help out a Laval team that is now missing Jake Evans, but will clearly appreciate his play. Poehling had one goal and one assist in 27 games in the Canadiens bottom six. In Laval this season, he has five goals and seven assists in 26 games. Poehling had been playing left wing in Montreal, and in Laval before his call up.
The Rocket play in Belleville on Saturday night and in Toronto on Sunday afternoon and Poehling should be expected to take part. The Canadiens host the Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre later on Saturday.
