Christian Folin has been recalled by the Montreal Canadiens.

The defenceman has played 15 AHL games this season, scoring a goal and adding three assists in the AHL. His first seven AHL games came as part of a conditioning stint.

He has played five NHL games and earned one assist this season.

Folin missed Saturday night’s game as the team has more veterans on the roster than the AHL allows in games. With Cale Fleury in Laval, the need for an additional right handed defenceman was more necessary in Montreal than in Laval.

Folin played 19 games with the Canadiens last season after being acquired alongside Dale Weise from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Byron Froese and David Schlemko. He had four assists.

He has played 233 career NHL games, scoring seven goals and adding 36 assists. Before his conditioning stint, his last extended stay in the AHL was in 2015-16 with the Iowa Wild when he played 28 games.
