Folin will rejoin the team in Washington where they will take on the Capitals on Thursday. Folin was sent down earlier this week when it was clear that Shea Weber would be returning. With Marco Scandella traded, and Victor Mete leaving Tuesday’s game early, the Canadiens risked being down to five defencemen.
The Rocket host the Manitoba Moose on Wednesday and Folin’s recall means that either Evan McEneny or Maxim Lamarche will remain in the lineup. Laval did not play a game since Folin and Jake Evans were sent down.
Folin has a goal and an assist in seven NHL games this season. He has a goal and three assists in 15 AHL games split between a conditioning stint and another assignment that required he clear waivers.
The Canadiens end their road trip on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.
