The Canadiens announced on Sunday that defenseman Christian Folin has been placed on NHL waivers.
Folin had been one of eight defencemen with the team for much of the season, only dressing for five of the 42 teams the Canadiens played. He had one assist in that time, averaging about 16 minutes of ice time.
With no returns for players currently on Injured Reserve imminent, the move doesn’t necessarily mean Folin will be sent to the AHL, but he will have already cleared the waivers process if the Canadiens do make such a move within the next 30 days. There could be another transaction to follow this one up, or there may be another player in Laval that Marc Bergevin wants to get a look at with the main club.
