After their loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night, the Montreal Canadiens announced that Matthew Peca, who had been the only forward scratched for the game, had been sent to the Laval Rocket.

The Canadiens assigned forward Matthew Peca to the AHL’s Laval Rocket tonight.
Joel Armia has returned to practice for the team, and the move suggests that he’s ready to return to the lineup. He could be back in on Thursday when the Habs visit the Philadelphia Flyers.
Peca had been out with an injury since December 10, getting one game on Saturday after returning to health, unfortunately deflecting the only puck past his own goaltender that night, spoiling a shutout bid. He’s played a total of five games with the NHL club this season, and has no points.
He’ll be a welcome addition to the Laval Rocket, who have been forced to fill out their lineup with a few players on professional tryout contracts recently. As the Canadiens get healthy, the AHL club gets stronger, which is good news for fans of both teams.
