After their loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night, the Montreal Canadiens have recalled centre Lukas Vejdemo from the Laval Rocket. To make room, the team has demoted defenceman Otto Leskinen.

Vejdemo was drafted back in 2015, and now gets his first recall to the NHL team four years later.
Speed was always a highlight of his style, and what he built his game around. That has helped him become an effective player in all situations, this season really hitting his offensive stride in Laval. In 30 games in the AHL, he has eight goals and eight assists, with two of those goals coming while short-handed.
With Montreal heading out on a four-game road trip, he should get an opportunity to dress for his first NHL game. His quick style of play will be a welcome addition.
