[UPDATE] Ryan Poehling was recalled on Friday evening by the Canadiens meaning he’s likely to play on Saturday night. While Paul Byron practiced, he likely wasn’t ready to play and the Canadiens will avoid having Poehling play in Laval on Friday.

Poehling had his best game of the season, playing over nine minutes and getting lots of scoring chances and was otherwise noticeable. The move to send him back likely means that the Canadiens got some good news on the injury front, either from Matthew Peca who underwent an MRI after leaving Tuesday’s game, or Paul Byron.
There is no reason for the Canadiens to send Poehling down as he is exempt from waivers and days on the roster is not an issue. The Canadiens have the day off on Thursday before their next game Saturday at the Bell Centre when they host the Detroit Red Wings.
Poehling will likely be available for this weekend’s games as the Rocket face off against the Rochester Americans on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
