Ryan Poehling was among the first players on the ice at Montreal Canadiens practice on Monday morning, and will seemingly be entered straight into the lineup.

Fresh off his recall from the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket, Poehling will play between Paul Byron and Artturi Lehkonen. Nick Suzuki will return to the line with Nick Cousins and Nate Thompson.
Both Byron and Lehkonen have struggled to produce to start the season, and the Canadiens are likely hoping that Poehling can provide the spark while Jesperi Kotkaniemi is out with a groin injury.
It remains to be seen whether Poehling will play on special teams. In Laval, he took part in power play and penalty killing roles despite moving up and down the lineup at even strength.
Update: Poehling was not practicing on the power play, despite his 3.0 goals per game average in the NHL.
Special teams work at Canadiens practice today, with the emphasis on the power play. Kirk Muller running drills.
