The Montreal Canadiens have assigned Christian Folin to the Laval Rocket for a conditioning assignment.
The Canadiens announced that defenseman Christian Folin was assigned to the AHL’s Laval Rocket for conditioning purposes. He will join the team today in Belleville.#GoHabsGo

He will likely be in the lineup in Belleville tonight where the Rocket play the Senators. The Laval defence currently has Xavier Ouellet and Noah Juulsen on the shelf. Ouellet is considered week-to-week while Juulsen has been battling an illness.
Folin has played five games this season, and none since October 19. He has one assist. While the left side of the Canadiens defence has rotated with Mikey Reilly, and Brett Kulak rotating, Cale Fleury has solidified his spot on the right side.
A conditioning loan to the AHL may not be longer than 14 days. If Folin were to be sent to Laval full-time, he would have to go on waivers.
The Canadiens currently have 21 players on the active roster, leaving two potential roster spots. Montreal has three games remaining this week, hosting the Devils and Flyers before going to Boston to face the Bruins on Sunday.
Laval faces Belleville on Wednesday before back-to-back road games with Syracuse and Springfield on Friday and Saturday.
