The Canadiens today announced that defenseman Gustav Olofsson has been placed on NHL waivers.#GoHabsGo
Olofsson has been riddled with injuries since being acquired from the Minnesota Wild last season in a trade for Will Bitten. The defenceman played in two AHL games with the Laval Rocket before suffering a shoulder injury. He missed the entire pre-season as well with a separate injury.
This move presumably means he is healthy, and he had been rehabbing in Laval with the Rocket and had a locker assigned to him. If he clears waivers (which is likely), he will be eligible to be in the lineup on Friday as the Rocket start their season at home against the Cleveland Monsters.
The 24-year-old had one assist last season. He has 11 assists in 56 career NHL games. He has played 122 AHL games in his career with nine goals and 34 assists.
