All five Montreal Canadiens players clear waivers

They will report to the Laval Rocket

NHL: Preseason-Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Montreal Canadiens placed five players on waivers yesterday, and news came today that all five players cleared and will report to the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.

Byron Froese, Rinat Valiev, Brett Lernout, Michael McCarron, and Hunter Shinkaruk were the players who were placed on waivers. All of them should be expected to be significant contributors for the Rocket going forward as they try to work back to the NHL.

It should be expected to see Froese take back his captaincy in Laval after he was called up to the NHL just four days after being named captan last season.

All players who cleared waivers are free agents on July 1.

The Canadiens still have 34 players in camp, 28 of which are healthy so you can expect more players to be placed on waivers before the season starts next week.

The Rocket have two pre-season games this weekend before their season gets underway next week.
