The Montreal Canadiens have been reported to have interest in adding Ryan O’Reilly, but with the Buffalo Sabres wanting a sizable return to make the trade worthwhile, no team, including the Habs, has been willing to meet the demands.
The Sabres are asking a lot for Ryan O’Reilly and lots of teams are not interested to pay the asking price, and that includes the @CanadiensMTL

Beginning his career with the Colorado Avalanche, O’Reilly has spend the last three seasons with the Sabres, contributing at least 20 goals and 35 assists in each.

The Canadiens may be hoping his addition could solve a long-standing issue for the team at the centre position, but with them focusing their attention on building up a prospect pool at the same time, parting with some of their top young players and high draft picks doesn’t make a great deal of sense.
UPDATE:
On the way out of his press conference, Marc Bergevin said to one reporter that the price tag to acquire Ryan O'Reilly from the Sabres is too high. "If the price changes, (Botterill) can call me."
