The Montreal Canadiens have sent Rinat Valiev back to the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.

There was no word of a conditioning assignment, which means that the team may have used a regular recall on Brett Lernout. Lernout was an emergency recall when Valiev got injured, which means that Valiev’s return would have meant Lernout being sent down.

Valiev appeared in two games for the Canadiens but did not record a point. The 22-year-old was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the trade for Tomas Plekanec.

He played one game for Laval, and had one assist.

The Canadiens play the Winnipeg Jets tonight in their last game of the season at the Bell Centre.
