The Montreal Canadiens have recalled Brett Lernout from the AHL

Lernout may be called upon to play versus the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.

Rinat Valiev went down with an injury of Thursday night, leaving the Montreal Canadiens down a defenceman. The team has brought Brett Lernout up from the AHL to take his spot.

Lernout played three games with the NHL club earlier this season. He has yet to register a point in six career NHL games.

He has eight points through 54 games in the AHL this year.
