After serving as the backup versus the New Jersey Devils, the Montreal Canadiens have reassigned Zachary Fucale to the AHL.

Fucale was up on an emergency recall as Charlie Lindgren was the only healthy goalie on the roster with an injury to Antti Niemi. His return to the AHL suggests that either Niemi or Carey Price, who was back with the team and on the ice a few days ago, is now good to return after recovery from a concussion, forcing the conditions of Fucale’s addition to expire, and necessitating his departure.

Fucale still has yet to play a second of NHL action in his career despite several call-ups. He may be back in game action as early as Wednesday night, as Laval plays the Providence Bruins.
