In between game days, the Canadiens lineup starts to take shape

The Montreal Canadiens returned to practice one day after playing the Boston Bruins in Quebec City and one day before their Bell Centre season debut against the Washington Capitals.

Team B, the group that seems likely to play tomorrow, was the first team on the ice for practice.

Team B has one defender and one forward too many, so it’s not the exact roster that will play tomorrow, but it seems likely that is the main group to play tomorrow night.

David Schlemko, Jeremiah Addison and Chris Terry are still hurt and did not practice.

Here’s how Team B lined up.

Not many changes to the lines. Notably, the NHL lines have stayed identical and it looks like Victor Mete will get at least one pre-season game next to Shea Weber.

Based on this, I would bet on Thomas Ebbing and Stefan Leblanc being the odd men out for tomorrow’s game if this is the group that will indeed play.

Team A also practiced later on, and Noah Juulsen and Andrew Shaw were missing from practice. Juulsen has a foot injury and Shaw has a neck injury. Both are day-to-day.

Both are coming off of the game last night. Juulsen played in the rookie tournament, Shaw would be playing for the first time since the playoffs.

As for the players who did practice, more of the same but it was Byron Froese who stepped into Shaw’s spot. Martin Reway returned to the right of Jacob de la Rose and Michael McCarron.

On defence, no major changes from what we saw yesterday with Tom Parisi and Simon Bourque a possible combination for Laval.
