During the first intermission of the Montreal Canadiens game versus the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Habs announced they had dealt David Desharnais to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Brandon Davidson.

The Habs retained 20% of Desharnais’ $3.5 million cap hit in the deal. The move is a bit surprising, as it was assumed that Desharnais would be merely a piece included in a deal, and not part of a one-for-one transaction.
Stay tuned for a further breakdown of the deal, with an in-depth look at Davidson.
