Montreal Canadiens draft pick Jake Evans will officially be part of Canada’s entry at the Spengler Cup.
Evans was officially named to the 20-man roster today in the final evaluation tournament for Hockey Canada prior to the Winter Olympics. There were rumours that Evans and other NCAA players would take part in November.
Evans has seven goals and 21 assists in 20 games for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this season and he is among the NCAA scoring leaders.
There is a chance that if Evans impresses he will be named to the Olympic roster. NCAA players will be eligible.
Other familiar names on Canada’s Spengler Cup roster include P.A. Parenteau, Christian Thomas, Victor Bartley, and Matt D’Agostini who have all played for the Canadiens.
Canada’s general manager is Sean Burke, who is also a scout with the Habs organization. He is in charge of the men’s national team this year.
