After Tuesday night’s win over the Vegas Golden Knights, the Montreal Canadiens reassigned Michael McCarron to the Laval Rocket of the AHL, and called up Byron Froese.

Canadiens recalled forward Byron Froese from Laval tonight. Michael McCarron was sent down to the Rocket.
McCarron had been having a difficult time making an impact in the NHL, and now returns to play top-line minutes in Laval.
Byron Froese was voted captain of the Rocket last week, and has scored three goals and added eight assists in 13 AHL games.
Froese offers more of a playmaking style than McCarron, and that may have been what led to the decision being made, especially with Jonathan Drouin potentially out of the lineup for the next game.
Should Drouin miss any time, Froese can play on a sheltered line with some of the skilled forwards, and help them maintain some of the offensive play the Habs have enjoyed thus far.
