Montreal Canadiens place Andreas Martinsen, Byron Froese on waivers, send Charlie Lindgren to Laval

The final roster is starting to take shape

With today being one of the last days to place players on waivers before the start of the 2017-18 season, the Montreal Canadiens made more roster moves before the pre-season waivers deadline.

The team placed Andreas Martinsen and Byron Froese on waivers, and sent goaltender Charlie Lindgren to the AHL’s Laval Rocket.

With David Schlemko potentially starting the year on the Injured Reserve list, the Habs will be able to have 24 players on the roster, but will need to make a move when Schlemko is ready to return.

That decision will probably come down to either sending Victor Mete back to the London Knights, or placing Mark Streit on waivers to play with the AHL team in Laval.

The 24 players still remaining at training camp are:

  • Karl Alzner (D, NHL)
  • Jordie Benn (D, NHL)
