De la Rose has played three games with the Canadiens this season but was held scoreless. He has played 30 games with the IceCaps and has four goals and seven assists this season but two goals were scored in the last week. He's 11th on the team in scoring, far behind forwards like George Holloway, Gabriel Dumont, Charles Hudon, and Michael McCarron.
The Canadiens already had only 12 healthy forwards before Flynn went down, and had an open roster spot. With Flynn injured, even with Byron travelling with the team, they felt the need to call up another forward.
With Jeff Petry and Nathan Beaulieu day-to-day on defence, Greg Pateryn may draw into the lineup but with the next game on Friday they have time to make any decision there.
