Jarred Tinordi Sent to St. John's For Conditioning

It looks like Jarred Tinordi will finally be playing, but not necessarily where he would want to be

In the midst of a bunch of roster moves expected over the next day, the Canadiens made a somewhat unexpected one this morning, announcing that Jarred Tinordi would be going to the American Hockey League's St. John's IceCaps for a conditioning stint.

Tinordi has yet to play since the pre-season and with Alexei Emelin back and healthy, the time was right for Tinordi to get some ice time in. The team did a similar transaction with Greg Pateryn who played some games in the AHL before getting some NHL time with Emelin's injury.

Many people expect something to give when it comes to Tinordi, whose best chance to break into the Canadiens lineup may be to teach himself how to play forward. This conditioning stint may be just that, or it may be a chance for teams to get a look at a potential trade target.

It's hard to say what to expect from Tinordi without him playing a regular season game this season. This AHL stint may make it easier for Michel Therrien to insert him in the lineup or for Marc Bergevin to get value for the former first round pick.
