Jacob de la Rose has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs, and with that the Canadiens have made their final cut to the main roster, set at 23 players still with the big club.
There was speculation that there would be a trade coming after Marc Bergevin said he was working on something, but evidently he couldn't get that done in time for the deadline to get your roster set for the NHL season. It's still possible that we could see someone like Travis Moen moved out in short order though.
Here is your Montreal Canadiens roster for the 2014-15 season:
Player | Position | 2013-14 Club |
Carey Price | G | Montreal Canadiens |
Dustin Tokarski | G | Montreal/Hamilton |
P.K. Subban | D | Montreal Canadiens |
Andrei Markov | D | Montreal Canadiens |
Tom Gilbert | D | Florida Panthers |
Mike Weaver | D | Florida/Montreal |
Alexei Emelin | D | Montreal Canadiens |
Nathan Beaulieu | D | Hamilton Bulldogs |
Jarred Tinordi | D | Hamilton Bulldogs |
Max Pacioretty | LW | Montreal Canadiens |
Jiri Sekac | LW | Prague Lev |
Travis Moen | LW | Montreal Canadiens |
Michael Bournival | LW | Montreal Canadiens |
Brandon Prust | LW | Montreal Canadiens |
David Desharnais | C | Montreal Canadiens |
Tomas Plekanec | C | Montreal Canadiens |
Lars Eller | C | Montreal Canadiens |
Alex Galchenyuk | C | Montreal Canadiens |
Manny Malhotra | C | Carolina Hurricanes |
Brendan Gallagher | RW | Montreal Canadiens |
P.A. Parenteau | RW | Colorado Avalanche |
Dale Weise | RW | Vancouver/Montreal |
Rene Bourque | RW | Montreal Canadiens |
The Canadiens have an average age of 27.5 years old, as compared to last year's opening day roster having an average age of 28.7 years old. The Canadiens are a younger, bigger, quicker team this year, and have more talent throughout the lineup.
Montreal also has a solid $3,489,167 in cap space remaining, which is a huge amount if they're looking to add at the deadline, and if they're able to move Moen without taking salary back outside of filling the roster spot with say, Bowman, they would have $4,764,167 in cap space, more than enough to add two huge pieces at the deadline. It's going to be an exciting season for Canadiens fans.
