Davis Drewiske, Gabriel Dumont placed on waivers by the Canadiens

The Canadiens have put a couple of their veteran minor leaguers on waivers as we get closer to the season.

There have been a few calls around the interwebs for Davis Drewiske to be the seventh defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens over Greg Pateryn or Jarred Tinordi, but with the announcement that he was placed on waivers, alongside veteran Bulldogs center Gabriel Dumont, that seems unlikely.

Drewiske had a respectable training camp and preseason, though he never stood out much, and had his fair share of poor plays. It's no surprise that he didn't earn a roster spot, in spite of his extremely low salary and the fact that he's a veteran.

What this may mean for the Canadiens is that they're dedicated to keeping Pateryn and Tinordi fighting for that seventh spot. It makes far less sense to have Tinordi sitting in the press box instead of playing, but Pateryn has an extra couple years of experience under his belt, and would likely handle that role better, so I assume he'll win it.

Unless of course, Francis Bouillon is still in the cards.
