Canadiens trade Lars Eller to Washington for two picks

There have been rumours swirling about the Canadiens trading P.K. Subban for a while now. They went a completely different way. They instead traded Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals for two draft picks. This is about the biggest curveball anyone could have expected.

The Canadiens in return are getting Washington’s second round picks for 2017 and 2018. It is not a move that benefits them in this draft specifically, but it definitely stocks them up on picks for the next couple of years.

One thing is for sure, they are not done. They just dealt a centreman, and with the Shaw trade also, there is definitely more to come from Marc Bergevin and his camp. This is turning out to be a crazy draft night.

We’ll have more on this very soon.
