With the fourth round underway, the Canadiens went back to the podium and changed course after drafting multiple large players with their first four picks and selected L.J. Mooney from the U.S. National Team Development Program.

Standing just 5’7″, Mooney is a high-energy, all-gas-no-brakes-style forward that feels no limitations due to his stature. In 51 games for the NTDP this year Mooney compiled 10 goals and 41 assists.

Elite Prospects

The Canadiens have never shied away from taking a swing on smaller players, and Mooney has all the hallmarks of the competitive streak this franchise is looking for.

There’s a bit of a wait, but the Canadiens will be back on the clock with the 145th overall pick.
