Kerby Rychel recalled from the AHL by the Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have called up Kerby Rychel from the Laval Rocket.

Rychel was added to the organization in the trade that sent Tomas Plekanec to the Toronto Maple Leafs on the day before the NHL trade deadline. Rinat Valiev, who was also acquired in that trade, had been called up earlier to take Victor Mete’s place, but has since gone down with his own injury.

Rychel played 14 games for the Rocket before getting his promotion. He scored eight goals and added four assists in those games.

The American left-winger has 154 points in 230 AHL games. He has two goals and 10 assists in his 37 games of NHL experience, all coming with the Columbus Blue Jackets from 2014-15 to 2015-16. The Canadiens play the Penguins in Pittsburgh on Saturday, where he will join the team.
