Kaiden Guhle to miss 4-5 weeks after off-season surgery

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that defender Kaiden Guhle will miss the start of the season, expecting him to miss the next four to five weeks.

The surgery was a result of something that happened during the team’s playoff run, and the team is allowing him to have a longer recovery period as training camp gets underway.

There are obviously questions about Guhle’s ability to stay healthy. He played only 39 games last season, but played all 19 playoff games. He has played 208 regular season games over the last four seasons. The silver lining is that Guhle has been very productive when he plays, and makes the team better when he is in the lineup. The team will also have more time and opportunity to evaluate players like Jayden Struble, Arber Xhekaj, Adam Engström, and David Reinbacher.

The team starts on-ice sessions at training camp on Thursday with the regular season starting on September 29.
