The Montreal Canadiens announced on Monday that forward Joshua Roy has been returned to the Laval Rocket.
Roy was initially recalled on November 25th. The Saint-Georges native did not record a point in four games with the Canadiens, but has 16 in 17 AHL matches. Roy returns to a Rocket team that has lost three straight games in his absence, and five of its last six.
Roy’s removal from the Canadiens active roster may be a sign that Patrik Laine is ready to return to the lineup. The Finnish forward has been practicing in a full-contact jersey for the last week, and accompanied the team on their three-game road trip to Columbus, New York, and Boston. That said, the Canadiens still have 12 forwards on their active roster, with Michael Pezzetta a healthy scratch since October 27th.
The Canadiens next hit the ice against the New York Islanders, a match that will take place at the Bell Centre on Tuesday, December 3rd.
