Karl Alzner’s attempt at becoming the fourth Montreal Canadiens defenceman to score in the game went awry when his slapshot hit Jonathan Drouin in front. Drouin attempted to stay on the bench and shake off the injury, but eventually he needed to leave to be evaluated by the training staff..
It appears he will be unable to return to the game.

The severity of the injury is not known at this point, but hopefully he will not be forced to miss significant time.
UPDATE: After being taken to hospital, it appears there are no broken bones for Drouin, though he will be re-evaluated before Sunday’s game.
Claude Julien says tests on Drouin came back negative, so no fracture. Will be reevaluated tomorrow.
