Introducing EOTP’s new moderation staff

At EOTP, we have an active comments section, which always serves as a great place for adding new information and alternative viewpoints to help enrich the content of our articles. Healthy debate has always been a hallmark of the site, and one of the things that sets up apart.

To help ensure that the discussion stays on topic and within the rules outlined in our community guidelines, we’ve added two people who will not just monitor the comments to make sure the rules are being adhered to, but will be active members engaging in those debates.

I’ll let our two new members introduce themselves, and you will be seeing a lot more from them in our conversations going forward.

Hey there folks!

My name is Marc-Antoine. I was born and raised in Montreal. I’ve played hockey all my life and I have spent the last few years as a goalie. I’ve also been working as quality assurance for apps and websites for the last year or so.

I’ve been what I call a smart hockey fan since four years ago, always looking for more in-depth analysis of the game I love. So when I saw an opportunity to incorporate a passion of mine with the work I’ve been doing, I jumped on it! And guess what: sometimes luck is on your side.

Since 2014, I’ve been coming to EOTP for all news related to the Habs. Ever since I wanted to learn more about hockey, EOTP has been there. I have always been more of a listener (and a comments reader) than an active proponent to debates. I’ll be taking a more active role and will do my best to make sure everyone feels included in the discussions.

I’ve always loved this website for its fair and in-depth analysis, probably like most of you. I have a bachelor’s degree in history and political science, and I prefer when things stay civilized. As a moderator, I’ll strive to be fair and logical. After all, I believe we are all logical beings at the end of the day!

So I hope you’ll embrace me as much as I will embrace this new role. Cheers guys and gals!

My name is Marvin Matthews, and here’s a little bit about myself as I come aboard the EOTP team. I’ll put it out front that I have four passions in my life: my family, music, the Habs, and the Expos. The family is a given, but I’ve spent much of my life putting my heart and soul (and words) into the other three passions.

With regard to the Montreal Canadiens, I have seen the last nine Habs Stanley Cup wins. So, depending on your point of view, that either makes me very lucky or very old. I spent many years in Montreal developing my love for my favourite team, but when I moved to Calgary in 1998, I gained a wider appreciation of the entire NHL, as well as an appreciation for other players in the league.

I enjoy lively and constructive conversation where I feel that not only I, but the other participants are gaining information. When conversations remain open and respectful, they also elicit intelligent discussions. Together, I hope we can share knowledge and learn more not only about our favourite team, but any other topics of interest.
