[Injury Report] Shea Weber didn’t sustain a fracture after taking a puck to the face

The defenceman was bloodied by a puck ramping up off his stick in the first period.

UPDATE: Weber’s X-rays came back negative, and he’s cleared to travel with the team to Detroit.

Shea Weber had a puck go off his stick and up into his face in the first period. While he was able to finish the opening frame, he did not come out from the dressing room after the first intermission.

It seems the injury was more serious than the defenceman let on during the game action. The Canadiens have had two players out with facial fractures this year, the most recent one being Noah Juulsen for a play similar to what Weber dealt with. Hopefully it won’t be a similar diagnosis for the Canadiens’ captain.
