Montreal Canadiens Legends Challenge: Emile “Butch” Bouchard bounced on day three

Emile Bouchard helped resurrect a franchise, but it’s not enough to earn a long stay in this eliminator poll.

A captain of the Montreal Canadiens has been voted out on the third day of this exercise. Emile “Butch” Bouchard has been overwhelmingly selected by a majority of over 700 voters to be the next to exit the game. He is the first captain of the Canadiens in this eliminator poll to suffer this fate, but certainly won’t be the last as seven other captains remain.

Some comments regarding Bouchard’s elimination:

  • Good player. Important piece of the team. But not even in top 10 all-time Habs greats.
  • MVP in his time..NOT MVP of all-time... sorry Butch
  • C’mon look at who’s left... Easy choice

So even though the Canadiens won their first Stanley Cup in a long time under his captaincy, and he helped turn around the franchise with his hard-nosed defensive play, it wasn’t enough to help keep his place.
