P.K. Subban thrown out of Game 1 after slashing Mark Stone

Subban received five & a game misconduct in the second period

Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

P.K. Subban's Game 1 in Montreal came to an abrupt end on Wednesday night when he received a game misconduct after slashing Ottawa's Mark Stone. With the Canadiens already on the penalty kill, Subban delivered a big slash to the arm of Stone in front of the Habs' net, sending Stone to the ice (and, ultimately, to the locker room) in very apparent agony. The referees reviewed the play and decided to stick with their decision for five and a game, leaving the Canadiens without their best defenseman for the latter half of the playoff opener.
